Cleaning up

So the second step was to clean up, inside and outside. To try and get to the bottom of things.
Underside before:
Grime and dirt. Gearbox

Oil stains on the UEL headers. Signs of shot top cover seals.

More grime and dirt.

Leaking boots on the steering rack.

Missing bolts and exhaust leak. You can spot the soot.

Plugs that do not terminate anywhere. I hate these things. Old car problems.

cooled down and ready for a wash.

One of my favorite. An intercooler that can not pass air through, does not sufficiently cool the intake charge. This will be my number 2 agenda.

Rear end was relatively clean. No leaks. Just dirt.

Later this week I will be putting up some more progress pics. The bright side of this story is that all these items must go. The drivetrain will be refreshed with new-age STI bits and pieces. Wiring will also get some treatment. Ok, that is a lie. The wiring will be fully replaced and traced end to end. A place for Everything and everything in its place.
